What
is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy based on the use of essential
oils extracted from herbs, flowers, roots, grasses and trees. The essential
oils are used in massage, inhalations, compresses and various preparations.

Aromatherapy may be used both symptomatically (clinically) and holistically.
For instance, Ti tree oil is well researched in being effective in treating
verrucae, warts, acne and respiratory infections. Its antiviral, antibacterial
properties
can be used symptomatically to treat those conditions.
The
holistic approach treats the whole individual, body, mind, spirit - how
they are within their environment, relationships, etc. Working on the
principle that when the natural energy flow of the body is upset, symptoms
of 'dis-ease' are the result. Essential oils are then chosen to reconnect
and support the energy flow, enabling the body to regain its natural balance
- homeostasis and healing process.
Why
Aromatherapy?
The stresses and strains of modern life result in a number of physiological
changes in the body, including muscular tension, back and neck aches,
headaches, along with emotional and
psychological changes. The combination of massage with the use of essential
oils, skilfully chosen, can help to ease these physiological and psychological
effects, facilitating healing and offering powerful preventative treatment.
The preventative and therapeutic discipline of Aromatherapy is now developing,
flourishing and gaining recognition all over the world.
Who
can benefit from Aromatherapy?
With a detailed consultation and assessment, the aromatherapist is able
to choose the treatment most appropriate to each individual. Aromatherapy
is suitable for men and women of all ages and most conditions. We will
work
in conjunction with other health professionals, whenever necessary to
ensure that you get the best care possible.
What
is Massage?
Massage is probably the oldest healing art known to humanity. It almost
certainly started as a form of touch which people found beneficial to
their health and wellbeing. Over the years almost every culture has 're-discovered'
the
magic of touch and formulated its own system of massaging and touching
for health.
Today, massage in its different forms is used to relieve stress, tension
and emotional trauma, to heal physical damage to the muscles and the skeletal
system and also as a profound and pleasant form of relaxation
